Because of the technology available to H&F evolved during the making of these recordings, the quality of all the downloadable tracks and clips is variable, but the excerpt gives you a good idea of what to expect. All the excerpts are rendered using 56 bps resolution, and the downloads are all 128 bps.

The following will also give you a guide as to relative quality:

1. Early Tracks - Mono - as you might have guessed, these are quite hissy at times with variable mix qualities and tonal characteristics.

2. Alice - Mono - All the tracks were recorded with limited resources involving track bouncing etc. The clips from the show itself (which occur briefly in the tracks) are poor quality despite being a good listen.

3. Tomorrow Come Someday, Whizz and Fizz - Mono - All the tracks were recorded involving track bouncing etc. Microphones and associated equipment though was much improved on Alice.

4. Fly Away - Mono - Again track bouncing was used, but better mixing techniques resulted in a much better overall sound. There is still some variation between the tracks.

5. A Game For All Who Know - Stereo - 2 machines were now in operation and further studio improvements, resulting in a much smoother and more consistent quality throughout.

6. Friends - Stereo - 2 machines and greatly improved tonal control and final mixing, means that this has the best quality of all the 5 albums, but because it was still realised without the use of multitracking, it still lacks some finesse here and there.

7. The Official Banana, Cock-a-Doodle-Doo, and Rock n' Rot - Stereo. Good quality achieved through better instruments and equipment including synthesisers and multitracking.
